BPC-157 is one of the most searched names in the research-peptide space, and one of the most misrepresented. This overview stays with what the published literature documents, without extrapolating beyond it.
What BPC-157 is
BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide of 15 amino acids (CAS 137525-51-0, C62H98N16O22, ~1419.6 g/mol) whose sequence derives from a fragment of a protective protein identified in gastric juice. It is typically supplied for laboratory work as a lyophilized powder.
What the literature documents
The published evidence base for BPC-157 is overwhelmingly preclinical: studies in rodent models and in-vitro systems, much of it from a concentrated group of research teams. That literature describes investigations of the peptide's activity in models involving soft tissue, the gastrointestinal tract, and growth-factor and angiogenic signaling pathways. Published human clinical evidence is essentially absent; no adequately powered, peer-reviewed human trials establish safety or efficacy for any indication.
Regulatory status, stated plainly
BPC-157 is not an approved drug anywhere. In the United States, the FDA has placed it in a category of substances raising significant safety concerns for use in compounding, and it is prohibited in competitive sport under anti-doping rules. None of the material sold in the research market is a drug product, and nothing in the literature changes that status.
Why it appears in research settings
- Preclinical pharmacology. Groups studying tissue-repair signaling use it as a tool compound in cell and animal models.
- Pathway studies. The literature's focus on growth-factor and angiogenic pathways makes it of interest for in-vitro mechanistic work.
- Analytical work. As a mid-size synthetic peptide, it serves in method development for peptide identity and purity testing.
Documentation for our current lot
Our BPC-157 product page lists its specifications and current lot; documentation is published in the public COA ledger as third-party testing completes, and lots awaiting certification are labeled pending. We also carry a BPC-157 / TB-500 two-peptide blend whose current lot is certified and downloadable from the ledger.
